mellow yellow

It's been a roller coaster week of weather. From almost 60 degrees to 6...and colder if you factor in the wind chill. Ankle deep mud covered by ice then several inches of snow. Blowing wind. Pea-soup fog. And don't forget the thunder and lightning, sleet and rain. This. Is. January.

All the animals have been hunkered down, huddled together, and fortifying themselves with hay. I've been squirreled away myself, but having fun with they dye pots.

I decided to step outside my comfort colors of black, brown, olive, and gray and try some yellow. I know, I know, you're thinking I'm such a wild child that knows how to have a good time.

I'm not a big fan of yellow and not that many people can wear it. So, to shake things up a bit, I used not just one, but two yellows in my latest handspun yarn. Of course, there were other colors involved in the making of the yarn; however, I think the yellow really pulls it together and gives it some life.

I created a swatch of the yarn using double crochet. I am really happy with the results.

Well, looking forward to Groundhog Day and seeing what the little fellow has to say for himself!
