"I can't complain but sometimes I still do. Life's been good to me so far ..." (Joe Walsh).

Yes, I guess I am complaining that our hot, humid, weedy, and rainy summer is nearing its end. They say Labor Day is the unofficial end to summer and signs are everywhere that autumn is just around the corner. The migrating monarchs have replaced the dragonflies in the backyard.

Squash, eggplant, apples, and garlic are filling the booths at the farmer's market.

Here are two different kinds of garlic that we bought today at the market but the vendor had at least ten different kinds! Garlic nirvana.

After the market we trucked on over to sunny Amish town to visit the bulk food and hardware stores.

And noticed that the fields are changing and farmers are gearing up for the harvest.

All in all a good day as there were some remnants of summer to be found.
